AFP Bangkok-based photographer Lillian Suwanrumpha has won the Award of Excellence in the Portrait Series category of the Pictures of the Year Asia 2023.

AFP Bangkok-based photographer Lillian Suwanrumpha has won the Award of Excellence in the Portrait Series category of the Pictures of the Year Asia 2023.
The World Press Photo Foundation has announced the regional winners of the renowned photo contest for the 2023 edition. This regional format brings together a regional and global jury that selects the winners from each region in four categories: Single Images, Series, Long-Term Projects, and Free Format. Tomás Cuesta, freelance photographer, was awarded a prize for AFP in Latin America.
The Swiss Press Photo has honoured AFP photographer Fabrice Coffrini with the first prize in the News category.

“The election of Maria Lorente is a tremendous sign of the recognition of AFP’s work”, said Pierre Ausseill, AFP Director for Latin America, “It is incredibly rare for a member of a global news agency to be represented on the board”.
